Today we celebrated Chuck Herrick and his 20 years of volunteering in my math class.  Every Monday, he would guide students in problem solving using a program called Think Lab.  Students worked their way through a series of problems using a variety of problem solving strategies.  Mr. Herrick's enthusiasm for problem solving and his wonderful skill of questioning challenged students to do their best thinking to solve these problems.  He also guided students in the use of  a software program, called the Logical Journey of the Zoombinis, to reinforce recognizing patterns.  A retired teacher himself, he is a dedicated educator and "Volunteer Extraordinaire". He was awarded a wooden pen in case that was engraved, "Chuck Herrick, Conners-Emerson School, 20 Year Volunteer.
